Located at the base of Arenal volcano, Nayara is in a prime location to experience some of the best parts of the country. Not only is the lush rainforest a perfect backdrop, this part of the country is known as the premier adventure destination in Costa Rica, with soaring canopies, hanging bridges, waterfalls and caves, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, whitewater rafting, fishing, zip lining and nature safaris. Staying in a villa at Nayara Springs gives you access to your own private plunge pool fed by the nearby volcanic hot springs. (An important note — these hot springs are crystal clear with no sulphur smell!) The villa is completely private with lush greenery surrounding your deck, the dreamiest canopy bed, his and her bathroom setups, and an amazing indoor shower, outshined only by the incredible outdoor shower in your own tropical garden.
As food is always an important part of travel, it’s important to note the dining options at Nayara deliver some incredible meals. Between the two sister properties, there are five full-service restaurants, a coffee bistro, and a wine bar. Amor Loco was a favorite of ours, with live music every night, and we had an incredible wine pairing dinner at Nostalgia wine bar that we enjoyed immensely.
One of my favorite experiences during our stay was simply enjoying the delicious breakfast delivered to our villa each morning. This option is complimentary and I was more than happy to enjoy my favorite meal of the day in my robe with some amazing Costa Rican coffee!
The phrase that encapsulates the culture of Costa Rica is Pura Vida. The literal translation is “pure life”— and you can use it as a greeting, a thank you, or just to say something is awesome. It symbolizes moving things forward and simply enjoying life.
